Local doctors’ surgeries provide a wide range of family
health services, eg advice on health problems, vaccinations, examinations and
treatment, prescriptions, referrals to other health services and social
services.
If you telephone the local surgery outside working hours
your call will be transferred to Harmoni (based in Clacton-on-Sea) who provide
an out-of-hours service.
You can also telephone NHS Direct on 0845 4647. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week for confidential health advice and information.
If you and your GP decide that you need to see a specialist
for more treatment, you can (for most medical conditions) choose when and where
to have your treatment from a list of hospitals and clinics.
